This is the farthest south we recommend dining and La Fonda is always worth the drive — approximately 20 minutes from Las Gaviotas entrance.

Be prepared most restaurants and stands "do not" accept credit cards — ‘cash’ is the name of the game in Baja.

Turn LEFT outside the Gate of your Las Gaviotas Rental, drive north on the ‘free road’, towards Rosarito. Gauge your odometer for distance.

TACO SURF
1.8 miles North of Las Gaviotas

Popular with the surfers & tourists; taco stand with carne asada tacos & ‘tortas’;

reasonably priced.

ANA MAR
1.8 miles North of Las Gaviotas

Next to Taco Surf — quiet, local restaurant; order off lunch menu even for dinner; stick with Mexican food — it is good and reasonable.

 

THE CASTLE
2.5 miles North of Las Gaviotas

Fine dining $$$ on ocean side of road

 

 

ARCEL’s
2.6 miles North of Las Gaviotas

New outdoor restaurant serving breakfast and lunch; tacos, seafood, burritos — limited menu but very good and under $5. Owner Arcel was a caterer in California and moved back to Baja.

Past the Castle on the right side of road.

CHA CHA’s CAFÉ
6.4 miles North of Las Gaviotas

As you approach the traffic signal you will see the building on the left side. Cha-Cha’s is on end, ocean side. Owner is Marsha, ‘Cha-Cha’, who is a nurse who opened her own ‘Coffee House’. Marsha has also started the In-Care - a home health care system for the American Seniors in Rosarito and is loved by everyone.

Restaurant only serves American food, homemade deserts, home cooking & coffee specialties. A great treat in Baja when she is there !

She is from Boston, with that strong Bostonian accent and always has a story to tell when your food is being served.

Be sure to ask her about her once owning the ‘Million Dollar Baseball Bat’ from Babe Ruth

ROSARITO BEACH

ROSARITO BEACH HOTEL

On left side (ocean side) of street at first stop sign entering Rosarito.

The Rosarito Beach is one of the oldest establishments in town and is worth stopping, touring and possibly having a meal. Special music & shows on weekends; Sunday Brunch

TACOS YAQUI
Rosarito Beach

The best carne asada tacos in town — very, very popular with the locals and any full time American. $2.00 each and written up in gourmet magazine. Off the main street; a must if going to Rosarito Beach.

Directions are:

At the stop sign where the Rosarito Beach Hotel arch is on left, turn right. Travel one block, turn left; go two blocks. Yaqui’s will be on right side of street across from all the parked Taxi’s.

Yummmmmmm !

SUSANNA’S
Pueblo Plaza - Rosarito

Restaurant down the little outdoor boutique mall with entry water fountain.

Fine dining $$$ and excellent gourmet.

Pueblo Plaza is a few doors south from El Nido Restaurant. A more upscale — boutique mall.

EL NIDO
8.8 miles North of Las Gaviotas

Restaurant very popular, very Mexican, tastefully decorated & unique.

On main street in Rosarito, 2 blocks north of Rosarito Beach Hotel — on the corner. Look for the wagon on the roof.

Homemade tortillas, steaks, seafood; delicious.

Del Mole
9 miles North of Las Gaviotas

Excellent chicken dishes, homemade dessert tamales - reasonable

THAT’S AMORE
9.6 miles North of Las Gaviotas

On the main street, Benito Juarez. The best Italian food in Rosarito Beach — gourmet. At the signal, it is on right side.

 

LA ESTANCIA
9.8 miles North of Las Gaviotas

One block (stop sign) north of Waldo’s Dollar Store. Turn left at stop sign, travel down 2 blocks. One of the nicest Mexican restaurants in North Rosarito.

Similar to El Nido, but less expensive; good steaks, rack of lamb, Mexican Combination; full bar; where the local Mexican and Americans choose to dine.
